Craig F. Haaren, 60, was architect, engineer

RUMSON- Craig F. Haaren, 60, a professional mechanical engineer and architect, died yesterday at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank. He lived at 1 Oyster Bay Drive.
Mr. Haaren served as chief engineer for the state Department of Labor and Industry, Bureau of Engineering and Safety, for 17 years before retiring in 1973. Since then, he was self-employed as a professional mechanical engineer and architect, with offices here.

He was born in Asbury Park and lived here for 33 years. Mr. Haaren served a lieutenant commander in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Haaren graduated from Rutgers University in 1941 with a bachelor of science degree and became a professional architect in 1954.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club and the Sea Bright Beach Club. He was also a member of the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club and Polly's Pond Boating Society. He was a member of St. George's By the River Episcopal Church, here.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy E. Keyes Haaren; a son, C. Jeffrey Haaren, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Paige C. St. Phillip of Elkhart, Ind., and Miss Nancy K. Haaren of Sea Bright, and one granddaughter.

The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.

DOROTHY E. KEYES HAAREN, 80, of RUMSON, died Tuesday at home. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. George's by the River Episcopal Church, and Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club, both of Rumson, the Sea Bright Beach Club, Polly's Pond Sailing Society, a former member of the Junior League of Monmouth County, and a volunteer for F.I.S.H. (For I Shall Serve Humbly), Meals on Wheels and the Women's Exchange, Little Silver. Born in Hollis, N.Y., she lived in Rumson for the past 44 years.

Her husband, Craig F. Haaren, died 20 years ago and she was also predeceased by her parents, Charles F. and Ella Keyes. Surviving are a son, Craig Jeffrey Haaren, Rumson two daughters, Paige St. Phillip, Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Nancy Haaren Schuster, Rumson two granddaughters, Tiffany St. Phillip, and Paige Elizabeth Haaren and a grandson, Craig Daniel Haaren.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. George's By the River Episcopal Church, Rumson. Interment will be private. The family requests that memorial donations may be made in her memory to the VNA Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701. John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.
