Obituaries: August Hoeft

A resident of this area for 30 years, August Hoeft died in his home at 105 S. Dunton, Arlington Heights. Services were held January 3 in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church with Rev. Luther V. Stephan officiating.

Mr. Hoeft was born October 19, 1868 in Germany and was married to Augusta Weinrich in 1895 in St. Peter church. He leaves 2 sons, Henry and Carl; a daughter, Mrs. Elvira Behrens of Oelwein, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a brother Herman Hoeft of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Paul.

Black’s Memorial home was in charge of arrangements and burial was in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran cemetery, Arlington Hieghts.

Mrs. August Hoeft

Auguste Weinrich was born at Arlington Heights March 10, 1871, was christened March 24 and confirmed by Pastor Roeder March 29, 1885. She married August Hoeft July 2, 1895; to them six children were born, two died in infancy. Mrs. Hoeft was in failing health the last 13 years and passed quietly away early Sunday morning, aged 42 years, 2 months, 15 days. She leaves her sorrowing husband, her parents, four children, Henry, Carl, Elvira, and Paul; five borhters: Rudolph of Reed City, Mich., Eberhard, Ernst, Arthur and Oscar; four sisters, Alwine (Mrs. Wm. Hinrichs), Henrietta (Mrs. F.W. Geffert), Hedwig, Mrs. Wm. Guenther and Elfrida all of Arlington Heights.
The funeral took place Wednesday at 1:30 from her late home to St. Peters Lutheran church and cemetery. Her five brothers and one brother-in-law acted as pall bearers to show their last honor toward their beloved sister.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Chas. Weinrich of Glen Ellyn, Mrs. Elizabeth Bernhard, Miss Rosa Berhard, Mrs. Mary Carpenter, Mrs. Aug. Seehausen, Miss Laura Krieger and Rev. N. P. Uhlig, all of Chicago and Miss Lillie Griebenow of Milwaukee.

Henry W. Hoeft

Services for Henry W. Heoft, 62, lifetime resident fo Arlington Heights, were held Tuesday, Nov. 25, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church, Arlington Heights, with Rev. Robert C. Bartz officiating. Black’s Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hoeft who lived at 105 S. Dunton, died November 21 in St. Francis hospital, Evanston.
He is survivied by his wife, Emma; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Philbin, Mrs. Ruth Wheeler and Mrs. Lorraine Dolinajec, all of Arlington Heights; a borther, Carl Hoeft of Arlington Heights; a sister, Mrs. Fred Behrens of Mesa, Ariz., and four grandchildren.

Gertrude Hoeft

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Hoeft, nee Seegers, late of 442 S. Dunton st., Arlington Heights, were held Sunday from Karstens funeral home to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran church. Rev. L.V. Stephan officiated and interment was in St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Hoeft was born July 10, 1902 in Des Plaines. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Mount Prospect. September 5, 1925 she was united in marriage to Carl Hoeft at the same church. Following their marriage they moved to Arlington Heights.

She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran church, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Hoeft died May 11, at a Chicago hospital following a prolonged illness.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Henk of Des Plaines; two sons, Elmer and Leroy; her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Seegers; one grandchild, William Henk, Jr.; four brothers, John, Clarence, Oscar and Conrad Seegers; and six sisters, Alma Mecklenburg, Ida Gaitsch, Hulda Winkelmann, Ruth Pankonin, Helen Elliott and Mabel Burhke.

William F. Henk, 45, a long time reisdent of Des Plaines, died Monday in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, after a short illness.
An employe for the City of Des Plaines Street Department, he was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. Mr. Henk was born in Des Plaines on May 20, 1927.

Visitation is tomorrow from 2 to 10 p.m. in Oehler Funeral Home, Lee and Perry streets, Des Plaines, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday.

The Rev. R.K. Wobbe of Christ church, Des Plaines, will be officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.

Preceded in death by his wife, Irene, nee Hoeft, in December 1972, surviviors include two sons, William and daughter-in-law Doris Henk of Streamwood, and James of Des Plaines; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley (Leon) Rainbolt of Northlake; one grandchild and a brother, Marvin Henk of Fremont, Calif.

Mrs. Irene A. Henk, 44, nee Hoeft, of 10491 Doris Ct., Rosemont, died Tuesday in Lutheran Gernal Hospital, Park Ridge. She was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Peoria.

Visitation is today in Oehler Funeral Home, Lee and Perry streets, Des Plaines, from 2:30 to 10: p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. R.K. Wobbe of Christ Church, Des Plaines will be officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
