Aged Man Dies at Home of
Daughter
Mr. John B. Spear, 71, of Paterson, N.J. died at
5:30p.m. on Sunday, December 13, at the home of his daughter Mrs. W.
L. Lloyd-Smith.
Mr. Spear had been living in Union county since 1920 with his daughters, Mrs. W. Moffit and Mrs. W. Lloyd-Smith and had made many friends in this county. Burial took place in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Morganfield, on Monday, December 14, 1925.

John B. Spear, 71 years of age, died Sunday
afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.L.
Lloyd-Smith near Bordley, this county Funeral services were conducted
at the residence Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock by the Rev. J. Tyler
Davis, pastor of the Morganfield Presbyterian Church. The body was
buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery in this city.
Mr. Spear had been in failing health during the past year, but his condition had not been critical until the past two weeks. Death was caused by Bright's disease.
Came here From New Jersey.
In 1920 Mr. Spear came to Union County to make his
residence with his two daughters, Mrs. W. L. Lloyd-Smith and Mrs.
William Moffitt. Prior to that time he had been advertising manager
for the Patterson [sic] News, at Patterson [sic],
N.J. and he was later connected with the Drug and Chemical Club in
New York City. Altho not a native of this county, Mr. Spear was well
known in the Pride and Boxville communities, where during his brief
residence he made a host of friends.
Mr. Spear is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William Moffitt and Mrs. W. L. Lloyd-Smith, both of this county.
