James E. Ladd
STURGIS -- James E. Ladd, 83, died at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at his home here.
He was a member of the Sturgis United Methodist Church for 70 years, a member of the VFW Post No. 586 and the American Legion. He was a World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Ladd who died in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Hunt and Carolyn Thurston, both of Sturgis; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Marvin Lagle will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Sturgis Methodist Church and St. Anthony's Hospice.

STURGIS, Ky. -- Mary A. Ladd, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at St. Mary's Health Care Services/Welborn Campus from a stoke.

She was a member of the Sturgis Methodist Church and ladies auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, James E.; two daughters, Carolyn Ann Thurston and Nancy Hunt, both of Sturgis; a sister, Lou Johnson of Louisville; three brothers, George Brown Jr. of Clay, Ray Brown of Cincinnati and James Brown of Swanton, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home, with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
