Buried At Holland
Mrs. Minnie Carolyn Werremeyer, nee Stork, was
born in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 8, 1857. When she was still a child
her parents moved to Pike county, at Stendal, Ind., where she grew to
womanhood. In 1873 she was converted and united with the Methodist
church, during the pastorate of Rev. J. F. Severingghaus and through
all her life remained a faithful Christian. In 1887 she married
Ernest Werremeyer, and became stepmother to five children, one of
whom preceded her in death. To this union three children were born,
one of whom passed beyond before the mother. Her husband died May 25,
1921. Most of her married life was spent at Holland, but about 3
years ago she came to Huntingburg to reside with her daughter, Mrs.
Harry Tormohlen, and at the same time found it necessary to undergo
an operation, which was performed and 6 months later she submitted to
the second operation. In May of this year she submitted to the third
operation since which she suffered intensely, being bedfast the
entire time excepting about six weeks. She was always patient and
cheerful, and deeply appreciative of the loving care bestowed upon
her by her children, especially Mrs. Harry Tormohlen.
Mrs. Werremeyer loved her church, and attended
Sunday school and services as long as she was able. In June 1923 she
transferred her membership to the Main street church in this city.
Death relieved her from her sufferings Thursday Nov. 12, at 4:15
a.m., at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 3 days. Funeral services
were held at the Tormohlen home Saturday afternoon followed by church
services at the Main Street M. E., and then the remains were taken to
Holland for burial in the M. E. cemetery, Rev. L. A. Schreiber,
officiating.
Deceased is survived by two children, Mrs. Arthur Johnstone of LaPorte, Ind., and Mrs. Harry Tormohlen of Huntingburg; four step children, Mrs. Aug.
