beth playing flute Beth Ratay is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts Candidate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is also a teaching assistant for Music Theory. Beth graduated with the degree Master of Music in Composition from Arizona State University in 2007, where she also was a teaching assistant in Music Theory. Ms. Ratay also received the degree Bachelor of Music in Composition, with a minor in German Language and Literature, from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005. She has had pieces premiered by the Phoenix Symphony Chorus under the direction of Gregory Gentry, the University of Colorado Wind Ensemble under the direction of Allan McMurray with Venezuelan flutist Javier Montilla, and thenewly formed Santa Cruz chamber music group Mosaic, under the direction of Camille Chitwood. Beth has studied with composers Paul Nauert, James DeMars, and Michael Theodore among others. In her spare time, Beth enjoys performing as a singer and flutist.
