beth playing flute Beth Ratay is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is also a teaching assistant for U.S. Pop Music and Music Theory. Beth graduated with the degree Master of Music in Composition from Arizona State University in 2007, where she also was a teaching assistant in Music Theory. Ms. Ratay also received the degree Bachelor of Music in Composition, with a minor in German Language and Literature, from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005. She has had pieces premiered by the Phoenix Symphony Chorus under the direction of Gregory Gentry, the University of Colorado Wind Ensemble under the direction of Allan McMurray with Venezuelan flutist Javier Montilla, and the Arizona State University Concert Band under the direction of Martin Province. Beth has studied with composers James DeMars, Michael Theodore and Richard Toensing among others. In her spare time, Beth enjoys performing as a singer and flutist. She currently resides in Oakland,CA with her fiancé and cat.
