Ira T. Fallon Dies at Home
Ira T. Fallon, well known Nevada rancher and livestock man, died at his home on 333 College avenue, Santa Rosa, Calif., on Monday afternoon. Services will be held today in Santa Rosa, by the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
Mr. Fallon was born at Sebastopol, Calif., March 23, 1874. He spent most of his boyhood in Forestville, Calif. In the early ‘90s he moved with his parents to a ranch in Churchill county. The ranch on which they settled is now the townsite of Fallon, which was named in their honor.
Here Mr. Fallon engaged extensively in livestock ranching, but later moved to Smith valley, where he lived for several years and in 1911 was elected to the Nevada legislature.
From Smith Valley, Fallon moved to Yerington where he bought a large sheep ranch, but later sold it and moved to Mendocino county, Calif. He remained there for some time, coming back to Nevada where he lived until 1938, at which time illness compelled him to retire to Santa Rosa. His wife, Catherine, died in Reno, in April, 1938.
Surviving him are three sons Ira Fallon, Jr., of Riverside, California; Delbert Fallon of Minden, and Leland Fallon of Reno. Two brothers, Franklin Fallon of Victoria, B.C. and Milton E. Fallon, of Oakland.
