Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Carole Lee Hackwith , passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on June 23, 2006, after an extended illness. Carole was born Jan. 25, 1938, to Gail and Leona Grigg in Faulkton, South Dakota in the home of her grandmother. At ten months old the family moved to Pasco, where she lived for the remainder of her life.She married Robert L. Hackwith on June 8, 1956 at the Pasco First Lutheran church. They raised five children. Carole lived a full, rewarding life she was active with the PTA, Girls Scouts, Pasco Swim Team and past member of Altrusa and Beta Sigma Phi. Carole was an avid supporter of Pasco. She served many years as a volunteer for the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Diversion Board, Pasco Parks Board, Franklin County Historical Society and the Pasco Code Enforcement Board. She worked at Yakima Federal Savings and Loan, for W.T. Cooper MD and was co-owner of Hackwith Surveying before retiring in 2005. Carole leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Robert; daughters, Terri ( Ross) Carpenter, Robin (Les) Cooley,Piper (Mike) Mitchell and Kelly Hackwith ; son Guy Hackwith ; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters; Jolene Jasso and Denise (John) Intravartolo and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald Gail Grigg. A memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Pasco First Lutheran Church on 5th and Bonneville in Pasco. In lieu of flowers, Carole requested donations to the Humane Society, Pasco First Lutheran Church or Tri Cities Chaplaincy Hospice.
