Mrs. Rebecca C. Hammond
Rebecca Coe, widow of James Van Blarcom Hammond, and for over fifty years a resident of Brooklyn, died, Wednesday, of cancer of the stomach, at her home, for forty years, at No. 168 Skillman street. She was born at Ramapo, N. J., on Oct. 7, 1827, and was the daughter of Arthur Coe and Letty Blauvelt. She was one of the oldest members of the DeKalb Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, and belonged to the Ladies’ Aid Society. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services this evening in the DeKalb Avenue Church, will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W.W. Wilson, and the Rev. William A. Layton, a former pastor. There will be six pall bearers consisting of members of the church. The body will be buried at Paramus, N.J.
