Everett Bender, 55, of Big Spring, Texas, passed away at his residence on July 20, 2009. He was born March 13, 1954, in El Paso, Texas, to Eugene and Evelyn Bender.Everett was reared in a northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. He graduated from George Mason University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. His first employment was with The American Lawyer's Association in Washington, D.C. He later worked as a corporate trainer with The Dale Carnegie Institute.On July 4, 1983, he married Evelyn Wilkerson in Big Spring, Texas. He and Evelyn, have operated Miss Royale' Fashion Center for many years.He was involved in politics, having served as a Regional Director in Pat Robertson's presidential campaign. He was a former Republican County Chairman here in Howard County.He established the Christian Training Center in Big Spring and ministered with and to the community leaders. He organized community-wide events and hosted the National Day of Prayer for several years.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Bender of Big Spring; his father, Eugene Bender of Vienna, Virginia; two brothers, Eldon Bender and wife, Mary of New Market, New Hampshire and Ernest Bender and wife, Mavis of Vienna, Virginia. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Homer Wilkerson and wife, Stina; a nephew, Hardy Wilkerson and wife, Stefanie and their sons Heath and Jared; one niece and one other nephew.Everett was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn F. Bender in 2006.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the charity of your choice.
